Spread across five campuses in South East Queensland, Griffith University is a public research university that opened to students in 1975, having been founded in 1971. Its largest campus is on the Gold Coast at Southport, with further campuses at Nathan and Mount Gravatt in Brisbane's south, Logan, and South Bank, the last home to its creative arts and music programs. Named after Sir Samuel Griffith, the university is a member of the Innovative Research Universities group and teaches across business, engineering and information technology, environment and science, law, health, and the creative and performing arts.
