Edith Cowan University (ECU) is a public university in Perth, Western Australia, established in 1991 and named after Edith Cowan, the first woman elected to an Australian parliament. It grew from earlier teacher-training colleges and now teaches across health, nursing, education, business, science, technology and the creative arts. ECU's main campus is at Joondalup, north of central Perth, and it has opened a new ECU City campus in the heart of Perth, home to the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, along with a regional campus at Bunbury. It is widely associated with performing arts, nursing and education.
