Charles Sturt University is a public university based in regional New South Wales, established in 1989 and named after explorer Charles Sturt. It was formed by merging earlier colleges whose teaching roots in the region reach back to the 1890s. Its three foundation campuses are at Bathurst, Wagga Wagga and Albury-Wodonga, and it has since added campuses at Dubbo, Orange, Port Macquarie, Canberra, Parramatta and Sydney, plus a campus in Colombo, Sri Lanka. One of Australia's largest regional universities, Charles Sturt teaches many students online and is known for agriculture, veterinary science, nursing and allied health, education, policing and theology.
