Brunel University

Brunel has particular strength in engineering, from mechanical and civil to electronic and aerospace, and in design, showcased each year in its Made in Brunel exhibition. It is also well known for sport and exercise science, business, computer science, and law. Its brutalist campus is a popular film set, appearing in A Clockwork Orange and various TV dramas.

Requirements are set by the individual degree and may include specific subjects, an admissions test, a portfolio, an interview or relevant experience. International qualifications are assessed against the university's published country equivalencies, and each offer states the exact academic and non-academic conditions.

Applicants whose first language is not English take an approved test, with bands set by course. Many programmes expect around IELTS 6.0 to 6.5 overall with minimums in each part, while some ask for higher. Brunel lists accepted tests, including TOEFL, and offers pre-sessional English courses for students who need extra preparation.

International students pay the tuition fee set for their course and year of entry. Some programmes also have costs for placements, fieldwork, laboratory materials or professional requirements. Scholarships and bursaries have separate eligibility rules and are competitive rather than automatic.

Brunel has a self-contained campus in Uxbridge, on the western edge of London, with teaching, halls, a large sports complex, shops, and the students' union all on site. University accommodation is allocated under eligibility, application and deadline rules. Any first-year guarantee applies only to students who meet all stated conditions; other offers depend on room availability. Clubs, sport and support are provided through the students' union and university services.
